When Lucas was born and we were told that he had less than 1% clotting factor and could possibly hemorrhage from a brain bleed and it be fatal, we were devastated. I was bitter, hurt and angry as I just knew I did everything right this time. As time went on, we became more and more blessed and his numbers gradually increased to 5 and 6%. Even though 50 to 150% are normal, I knew the likelihood of him having a bleed for no reason was not going to happen. It has not been all sunshine and rainbows as he has had some rough times but we have it better than most. From this journey I have gained an awesome network of friends I now consider family, access to resources to make things easier, a voice to fight for what my kids needed and the courage to do just that.
